This is the Rules & Resources folder for the container (for example, your Mailbox) that you have open. This folder stores mail rules and resources that are used by the container.
Mail rules tell FirstClass how to handle received mail, the copies of sent mail that are left in your Mailbox, and deleted mail. There can also be rules that you run manually on selected messages.
A common use for a mail rule is to handle spam by filing it in a subfolder or deleting it.
Don't pay any attention to the New Application Rule and New Custom Columns toolbar buttons. They are used by your administrator.
Create rules to handle mail received by this container
To create a rule for mail received by the container:
Specify the conditions that will make this rule apply, and what FirstClass should do when a message meets those conditions.
Create rules to handle mail that you send
This only applies to the copies of sent messages that are left in your Mailbox.
To create a rule for mail you send:
Specify the conditions that will make this rule apply, and what FirstClass should do when a message meets those conditions.
Create advanced rules for other purposes
If you want more advanced options than these forms provide, or want to create a rule that runs manually or on deleted messages, create an advanced rule by clicking New Advanced Rule.
Sort rules so they'll run in the proper order
FirstClass runs rules in the order they are listed. This means that you must put an exception to a rule before that rule. To change the order of rules, drag them in the list.
Check that your rules don't have errors
The Rules Log is updated every time you create or update a rule. Open it after working with rules to make sure FirstClass didn't find any errors in your work. The newest log entries are at the end.
Make custom resources available in this container
You can also store resources, such as picture files, in the Rules & Resources folder. These resources are then available for customizing the container. For example, you can choose a picture stored here as a background for the container.
